Dr. Pamela Peeke is a nationally renowned physician, scientist and expert in the fields of nutrition and fitness. Dr. Peeke is a Pew Foundation Scholar in Nutrition and Metabolism, Assistant Clinical Professor of Medicine at the University of Maryland and Fellow of the American College of Physicians. While a National Institutes of Health senior research fellow, Dr. Peeke was the recipient of the National Health Research Science Fellowship and Intramural Research Training Award. Dr. Peeke was also the first senior research fellow in the NIH’s Office of Alternative Medicine, where she analyzed new research linking novel nutritional approaches and their effect on the healing process in common diseases including diabetes.
Dr. Peeke is the chief lifestyle expert for WebMD’s 90 million members, host of the HER radio show on iHeart and RadioMD, and acclaimed TEDx speaker. She is a regular medical commentator for the national networks and on-lines including Huffington Post and Huffington Post Live. As chief medical correspondent for Discovery Health TV, Dr. Peeke is featured in both the award winning National Body Challenge series, as well as Could You Survive? Dr. Peeke is New York Times bestselling author, and in her latest bestseller, The Hunger Fix, she explains the new science of food, addiction and epigenetics. In her capacity as Senior Science Advisor to Elements Behavioral Health, the country’s largest network of addiction and eating disorders treatment centers, Dr. Peeke has created the first residential programs for food addiction.
Known as the “doc who walks the talk”, Dr. Peeke is a triathlete, marathoner and mountain climber, as well as recipient of numerous fitness industry awards including the IDEA lifetime achievement award, and the Zumba International Role Model award. She is a member of the Maryland Governor’s Council on Fitness and is national spokesperson for the American College of Sports Medicine’s Exercise is Medicine® global campaign. She has teamed with US Surgeon General Dr. Regina Benjamin to create the Surgeon General Walks for a Healthy and Fit Nation.
Dr. Peeke is a Trustee of the National Senior Olympics Foundation Board and will be competing as a triathlete in the 2015 Games in Minneapolis.
